Real-time Simulation & Hardware-in-the-Loop

National Instruments VeriStand software supports the creation of a Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) system integrated with powerful National Instruments PXI chassis and hardware.

Fastek began working with NI several months prior to the 2009 release of VeriStand software in developing a working customer application. The customer’s requirement was to create a simulator to exercise their control system without the physical, performance, and safety risks associated with using an actual generator and interfacing with a power utility. They desired a lab-based system that was easily configured, portable, and hardware configuration which could be reused, eliminating future equipment costs.

Fastek’s real-time solution is a reconfigurable system built upon VeriStand, with flexibility to enable changes without the need for external engineering support costs. Fastek delivered the HIL solution on schedule and budget, and received commendation from the customer.
